The Great Lakes Music Company’s mission is to increase access to music therapy, music education, and community music in the NW Indiana area.
The GLMC opened in 2016 providing in-home and facility-based music therapy services to individuals and groups. We are proud to be an Indiana Medicaid Waiver-approved provider for the Family Supports Waiver (FSW) and Community Integration Habilitation (CIH) Waiver. We also accept clients who use the ESA program (Indiana Education Scholarship Account) .
The GLMC has multiple active community contracts in hospices, memory care facilities, and schools. We are currently partners with the following organizations:
The GLMC specializes in treatment for individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, traumatic brain injury, physical rehabilitation, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and others. We work with clients across the lifespan for all abilities and we are dedicated to providing the highest quality services. All the GLMC staff are Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC), by the Certification Board for Music Therapists, and maintain those credentials by participating in continuing education.
The GLMC is a family-owned business proudly located in Northwest Indiana.
Jordy Blitz Novak, MM, MT-BC, NMT
Jordy Blitz Novak is the founder and owner of The Great Lakes Music Company. She has been a Board-Certified Music Therapist since February 2012. She completed her undergraduate degree in Music Therapy in 2011 from Illinois State University and completed her Master of Music in Music Therapy from Western Michigan University in 2016. Jordy earned her designation as a Neurological Music Therapist in 2022. Jordy is the former Director of Music Therapy at Valparaiso University and currently teaches as adjunct faculty at Indiana University Northwest and Valparaiso University.
Jordy has been a practicing music therapist since 2012, specializing in autism and intellectual disabilities. Jordy created The GLMC to serve the NWI community and provide an exceptional workplace for music therapists. To reach Jordy directly, email jnovak@theglmc.com.
Lauren Berger, MT-BC

Lauren has been a board-certified music therapist since 2017. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Indiana Purdue University Fort Wayne. Lauren has over 15 years of experience playing viola and has played professionally in various groups and has also been able to pick up many other instruments through her years of experience.
Rachel Butala, MT-BC

Rachel received her bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University in music therapy in spring of 2021 and has been a board-certified music therapist since February of 2021. Rachel is originally from the Detroit metro area. She completed her internship in December 2020 at Hillcroft Services, Inc. working with a variety of individuals and groups with developmental and intellectual disabilities. When she is not making music, Rachel enjoys playing video games and reading comics.

Katy completed her Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy at Eastern Michigan University in 2024. Her clinical internship was at the J.Iverson Riddle Developmental Center in North Carolina.
Andrew Novak

Andrew Novak is the office administrator of The Great Lakes Music Company, LLC. He is a classically trained musician and studied music at Illinois State University. Andrew is a percussionist with over 15 years of playing and performing experience and is a longtime member of the Percussive Arts Society.
Cassandra Haas

Cassie is a professional music educator with experience teaching students of all ages. Growing up in a musical household, Cassie has always had a passion for performing. She is a graduate of Valparaiso University and has since worked at many of NWI's local school districts before working with The GLMC. Cassie has taught several different types of instruments, but her favorite lessons to teach are voice and piano. She has performed all over the world but her most memorable performances have been at the St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, Germany and Four Winds Field in South Bend, Indiana.
